Students who play cello, guitar, and string bass use school instruments in order to help elminate the required transportation for class rehearsals. However students using these instruments are asked to pay a $35 fee at the beginning of the year to help cover instrument maintenance.
Students who rent a violin or viola from the school are also asked to pay the same $35 maintenance fee at the beginning of the school year. Instruments are rented out based on need. If there are extra violas and violins, you may inquire about renting a school instrument for $35.
If a student is doubling on a second instrument they are excused from the fee. For example, if a cellist is helping out the program by taking on string bass because we are lacking in instrumentation, they will be excused from the $35 fee. However, if a cellist would like to play both string bass and cello in class, they only need to pay one $35 fee to cover both instruments.
